    Ok, an update

We had issues before the race with the clutch, at first it was not engaging enough to get into gear, so we spaced the throw-out bearing, then it was slipping, 3rd time was a charm and we adjusted spacers/etc..

We got onto the track, the car felt really strong / fast.. But the oil pressure dropped after a couple of laps and the engine over heated. So I pulled off.

We are pulling the engine and going to swap in something more reliable. I will send pic's shortly !

That sounds like the races we tried. Fun for a few laps, the just watch others have fun.

Just an update on the ECO Miata.

We got the engine running for the race, then found the clutch would not go into gear, we pulled the gearbox and spaced the slave cylinder, then it slipped too much, so we did it again and found the happy medium.. We also changed the clutch master cylinder to a aftermarket race one, with a larger bore.. The Clutch seemed to work ok then

The fuel pressure was low (miata has about 10lbs less pressure), we switched the pump to another one that we got to fit, on the factory tank pickup.. :-)

We ran the car for a few laps, it was super fast, just getting warmed up and then the engine started to knock :-( so I shut it down.. It turns out the junkyard engine had more than a head gasket blown..

So we raced out usual car for that race..

I have a new engine a 2005 cavalier, low miles, we are changing the engine, making a better slave cylinder spacer and putting in a larger radiator. Also, installing a 2005 cavalier alternator as the alternator plug did not work with the 02 Saturn Loom.

We hope to do a track day late August and race @ Thunderhill in September !

Update, car's done 4 races.. It's been pretty quick.. We did blow a clutch in one race, had to finish the 2nd day running without changing gear, very frustrating 5 hours for me and our drivers. We are using a stage 2 clutch now which seems better.

Added a Innovate Wideband sensor, have been tuning the engine (HP Tuners).. I have an unlimited license for 2003 CAV ECU's, with some tuning, we got a good balance of fuel economy where we could race for 2 hours with about 14 gallons of gas with pretty good power.

Engine is still a little under powered, soooo.. I traded some stuff for a M62 supercharger off a LSJ engine, all the parts.

I have started the Supercharger installation (had to cut more of the miata away).., I should have all the hardware in place this week, will be working on

    - MAP/IAT sensor placement
    - Tune for Supercharger
    - Some missing bolts here and there, (I have my old throttle body adapted to the supercharger)
    - heat exchanger strategy

etc.. Once it's running I will upload some pics :-)
