    bagged83dime's hybrid build

Ok well iv officially started my build up and thought i should start this so i have a good place to ask question and not put up a bunch of post asking different question, plus i thought it would be fun for yall to follow along.

First off let me say this will not be a crazy build and it will not come along really fast, my biggest constraint is cash flow so bare with me people.

    Plans: first round N/A
    2.4 short block
    2.2 head ported and polished
    balance shaft delete
    2.4 manifold
    hp tuners for the tune
    lsj injectors
    Polished tb
oem gasket and head bolt set

    Plans:round 2 at a later date
    comp turbo grind cams
    Zzp valve springs and retainers
    arp head studs
    cometic head gasket
    Hardend oil pump gears
turbo setup not planned out yet

    Parts i have now..
    09 le5
    06 l61 head
    tb adaptor
    oem head bolt kit
    2.4 manifold

The motor is sitting in my friend place at the moment So no pics of it yet. The head is at my shop and iv began porting the exhaust side and so far am very happy with how its coming, this brings me to the first question i have...as for the intake side of the head it dosent appear to need alot of work, most i see doing is some light porting and polishing , it seems to be a pritty close match to the intake ports. Anyone have some pics of what they did or input? Pics of my port work will be up soon

Will be watching. I have been on the fence for some time about doing a 2.4 hybrid build. To your question, considering the time investment into hand PnP, I don't think the payoff is there. If you're trying to eek out the last bits of power, worth it; for just enjoyment sake, not, IMO. Maybe even consider an LSJ head which flows better right out of the gate and has a wider range of cam options.

I was under the impression that the LSJ and non-LSJ heads flowed the same, but the LSJ head was cast from better material allowing more port-work to be done. I could be wrong, though.

Lsj has larger exhaust ports iirc. the l61 and saab 2.0 head are similar sized ports

I looked into the lsj head and was under the impression that there was a problem running on the le5 but I must be wrong. The exhaust side leaves a Lot to be desired stock but there seems to be plenty of meat to open them up

Well the Saab 2.0, or the LK9, and the LSJ are almost exactly the same engine, with the only difference being the means of forced-induction. The LSJ does not have bigger exhaust ports than the L61/LE5/LNF. They only have more "meat" and better casting material that allow more porting, or a bigger exhaust port, in the end.

Make sure the picture wasn't of the GMPP LSJ cylinder-head. That particular cylinder-head, which is not a stock LSJ head, has larger exhaust ports.

Ignore my previous post. There was no GMPP LSJ cylinder-head. There was a GMPP L61 cylinder-head, though.

Regardless, can't wait to see what happens with your build, bagged83dime. I've always loved your build, man.
