Managed to put some miles on the new engine yesterday, it's lovely and smooth (probably due to the zero-balancing) and has noticeably more torque

the vx220 engines tend to stay clean because they are at the back of the car and have an aluminium tray covering the entire floorpan, so from underneath you cannot see the engine or gearbox

Wow I learned something there. My engine has 40k and it looks like it has 140k.
I like the color of your car too!

So I decided to improve a few things and my 2.5 engine is now running just over 270bhp - Normally Aspirated, all motor

    LE5 crank
    LE5 carrillo rods
    JE 90mm LE5 pistons 11.5:1 CR
    balancer delete, including chain
    Saab (LSJ) block and head
    Darton sleeves
    DaviesCraig electric water pump
CatCams race cams - 287 degree
    Webcon itb kit
    GM racing valves
    GM racing oil pump gears
    Supertech springs
    Bottom end zero balanced
    TTV 6 speed flywheel
Alfa Romeo 6 speed M32 gearbox

I had a problem with a broken crank sensor mounting bracket on the main mapping session, I made a new billet bracket and on a quick test run it produced just over 271 bhp

This is the mapping session with the broken sensor, it caused the engine to not rev past 7000rpm, it now revs to 7650 rpm

Pretty and powerful. Total dream car! Should not have any trouble with an Elise or the new Alfa.
