    Chevette - 2.4 conversion

    Greetings all! First post!

I'm building a vintage, Group 4 Chevette and would like to use the solstice 2.4 and manual trans. Initially the engine/trans will be stock units taken directly from a wrecked donar. I'm wondering if the stock ecu can handle 'not seeing' items as airbags, power brakes, etc. I'm hoping to use the stock ecu for cost reasons.

Does anyone have any knowledge on the subject or may know who I may contact with my questions?

    Thanks and regards,

    ----leg

no shit! I didn't think there were any more Chevettes out there anymore! Damn for a beater car they could take a beating. I had two of them. Damn I will love to see how this turns out.

These are my new brake guys. Would you let them work on your car?

Can someone tell me how to post pictures?

Also, I'm thinking of going with a 2.2, as there seems to be more aftermarket support for it over the 2.4 I still need help in regards to my question concerning if the stock ecu can be used with the swap.

    Thank you,

    ----leg

*Also, I need help in choosing a 2.2 varient. I beleive I would prefer one with a cable actuated throttle, though if others prefer the fly-by-wire versions please chime in.

upload and host them on photobucket then you post the links to them. You can post them as clickable thumbs.

I think its awesome someone bringing back the Chevette like this. I had two of them, great little cars.

From what I read, 2005, at least for the Ion, was the first year for DBW.

05 Cavalier was the last cable TB. so most likely find a motor from a 03-05 J-body.

LE5 Intake manifold, AEM cold air/filter, LSJ injectors, Header back 2.5" exhaust, Racetronix FP, and of course - HP Tuned.

Will a solstice/sky transmission bolt up to the L61? I know quad 4 rods has bellhousings for mating up a t-5 but I'm trying to keep costs down.
