This is a story of unlikely scenarios. The first concerns the Subaru BRZ, a rear-wheel-drive sports car from the company famous for making all-wheel-drive station wagons pretending to be SUVs. It’s equally unlikely that this Japanese car finds itself on southern France’s Route Napoléon, one of
But a steering-wheel-mounted remote control was among the 21 patents granted to Apple this week. We don’t typically track patent applications and grants for the Cupertino-based tech company—it holds or has filed for thousands of them—and came to this one through PatentlyApple.com.*The device, as Apple describes it in its paperwork, is pretty simple: A disc with traditional iPod controls can be clamped to the steering wheel rim. It could then, we take it, remotely operate an iPod, iPhone, or iPad. Read full story »
Of course, we don’t get the normal Polo here in the States; thus, don’t expect to see the WRC Street anywhere but Europe.
Our diminutive long-term Mazda 2, the least-powerful, least-expensive car in our fleet for quite some time, has completed its 40,000-mile stay. Few tears were choked back as, after 16 months in our care, it pulled away from our office for the last time. Sure, the minimalist Mazda was fun to toss around, but it illustrated the difficulty some manufacturers have faced in coercing Americans out of large cars and crossovers and into pint-sized hatchbacks. (more…)
Since then, DRB execs and British politicians have cooled the speculation with sobering comments that no changes are happening—”for now.” But their reassurances did nothing to address questions about Lotus: How far along is the Esprit? Why is the Elise dead in the U.S.? And with only the Elise, Exige, and Evora on the market, how is it that Lotus keeps the lights on and 1200 people employed? We went to Lotus’s headquarters in Hethel, situated on a former Royal Air Force site on England’s eastern seaboard, looking for answers. Read full story »
We applaud the company for giving us these unaltered images, which show the unfinished car with data-collection equipment scattered about the interior.

Ok, so I've got a 2004 chevy malibu classic, 2.2L engine, that will crank but will not start.

Here's the scenario:

I've had the fuel pump and ICM replaced, after which the car ran fine--for a few days. Then one fine morning, on my way to work, the car quit on me. It has, til this time, refused to start.

Security Check--Did the "10-minute passcode relearn routine", no joy;
Fuel pump--comes on when I turn key to "on" position;
Battery--good;
Spark Plugs--replaced (twice);
ICM--attempted to get tested at THREE auto part stores, but they looked at it like a MONKEY doing a math problem, stating that they can NOT test it!!! (So what, this ICM is never expected to fail, seeing as it is untestable????)

Ok, guys--what do you have in your bags of tricks, for THIS one???
